The Pantry Project is Shining Roots’ community food redistribution programme. We collect quality surplus food from supermarkets, restaurants, farms and community partners, then make it available to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.
Our welcoming, choice-based sessions allow people to select from the food available according to their household’s preferences, culture and dietary needs. The selection changes depending on the donations received, but may include fresh produce, bread, chilled and frozen food, meat, fish and everyday essentials.
Our current sessions are based in Croydon, but support is not restricted to Croydon residents. We believe everyone should be able to access food support with choice, dignity and without judgement.
Our choice based sessions allow families to select food that suits their household, culture and dietary needs.
We collect quality surplus food from supermarkets, restaurants and local partners, then redistribute it within our community.
Food is often the starting point. Where additional needs are identified, we provide information, signposting and connections to further support.
